Parva: A tale Of War, Peace, Love, Death, God And Man, by noted Kannada writer S. L. Bhyrappa, is a modern reconstruction of Mahabharata first published in 1979. The novel is written in the form of various narratives by the characters of Mahabharata.
Summary Of The Book
Parva: A tale Of War, Peace, Love, Death, God And Man looks at the Indian Epic Mahabharata from the perspective of some
of its crucial characters. Starting off just before the Kurukshetra war,
Kunti, Draupadi, Bheema and Arjuna take turns to reflect on their lives
thus far. A third person account of the war with a philosophical undertone
forms the rest of the novel.
The novel is particularly noted for avoiding any mention of magical incidents in the epic. In doing that, the novel gives the Mahabharata a very modern and real life tone, with which the common man can associate better. Many of the incidents also have sociological reflections and notes which are relevant to the current generation.
